Here is the Board of Education doing their part. NYSPTA Convention at Niagara Falls Our very own Paige Pye and Christina Lesniak headed to Niagara Falls in November to vote on hot button issues. Who did they find there? 2018 Teacher of the Year, Chris Albrecht! Check out everything NYS PTA has been doing: 1. Things Every Parent Should Know about NY State's plan for the Every Student Succeeds Act 2. Top Reasons NYS PTA Members Make a Difference Hill Book Fair PTSA loves seeing books get into the hands of all students, and the Hill Book Fair was no exception. Our GRAND event on Monday was, as always, a great event. Glad to see so many family members eating lunch with their student and visiting the fair together. GVPTA Dinner Genesee Valley PTA held a dinner for all PTAs they oversee. Parents, staff, and school board members were all invited to this dinner. Brockport Central PTSA had a great turn out! Special treat: Chris Albrecht spoke at the dinner Barclay Veteran's Day Celebration Barclay held their annual Veteran's Day Celebration. It is always an amazing sight to see. What a great way to celebrate all those who serve or have served. PTSA helped with a reception following the assembly. Thank you to all who donated food or time! OMS PBIS OMS had their PBIS celebration the last week of November. PTSA helped out with some rock painting, and the rocks are hidden around OMS. What fun! Ginther Staff Lunch A little friendly competition between the schools. Ginther had the most staff sign up for PTSA and won a lunch!
They enjoyed homemade soups, salad, and desserts! Thank you Ginther for doing such a great job getting the staff excited about PTSA! International Walk to School Day Students and teachers alike enjoyed walking to school! BHS students came out and helped cheer the elementary kids on with clapping, high fives and music And the winner is... Wait, it's a tie! Barclay and Hill tied for most students walking to school! Congrats to those schools! Fun Run They tried, but the weather just did not want to cooperate! 6th graders were the only students to participate in the Fun Run on the postponed date. Other grades were able to make it up later on at their school. Here are the pictures we were able to get before the rain came! Barclay and OMS Book Fairs Barclay and OMS book fairs took place in October. PTSA loves getting books into the hands of students! We had a "Guess the amount of Rattlesnake Eggs" game (we had a cobra, but..shhhh...), and we had a pencil pull. Winners of these games received a free book! Custodian Appreciation Day Everyone is valued and appreciated in the Brockport school district, but PTSA wanted to make sure that our custodians knew that they were truly appreciated. They do so much for the schools, and for PTSA! They're always making sure we have what we need for our events (including power strips when we forget ours!), and they make sure the school is well maintained and clean (can we say, "Flu season?" yuck!). So to thank them, PTSA handed out donuts for them to enjoy, and to let them know, "We 'Donut' know what we would do without you!!"
Barclay/Ginther Bus DutyPTSA volunteers helped out at Ginther making sure students getting off the bus went to the right classroom (or school!) in the mornings. After school they were there helping students find their bus. BHS Lunch on the Lawn PTSA helped out at Lunch on the Lawn at BHS. Students came outside during their lunch (rain or shine!) and played toilet paper toss and ping pong ball toss. They earned raffle tickets, and lucky winners were picked to throw a pie in the face of the AP of their choice. At the end, all APs got a turn getting pied. What great sports they were! Students were also entered into a raffle to win movie tickets. Here are the winners! (Borrowed photo) Mr. Albrecht, 2018 NYS Teacher of the Year A big congratulations to Chris Albrecht! PTSA was asked to provide a breakfast for him and staff at Hill, and we gladly said, "Yes!" Spirit Week Spirit Week was a lot of fun! Two of the days were Tie-Dye Day and Twin Day PTSA sold Homecoming T-shirts and other goodies to show off our school spirit! Homecoming Building PTSA's Moana float for Homecoming Our finished float. What a great Moana! Hei Hei also made an appearance on the float. PTSA Meetings What an amazing turnout to our Elementary PTSA meeting! Can you see our VP taking photos? :) We also had a great turnout to the OMS meeting, but sadly no pics. Special Thanks to Logan StaskiewiczWe would like to give a HUGE thank you to Logan Staskiewicz! Logan is a 7th grader and very active in Boy Scouts. He decided to donate volunteer hours to the PTSA Box Tops program this year! Logan has taken on the task of bringing box top collecting into our Brockport Community. He personally made all of the collection containers and visited local businesses to talk with them about the importance of supporting the Brockport PTSA Box Tops program. We are so very thankful for Logan and the Staskiewicz family for their support of PTSA! If you see his containers, make sure to drop a box top or 2 in for him!
