The PTSA Green Team is made up of people who have a heart for the environment and want to bring awareness and action to the schools through programs -big and small. One of the newest NYSPTA programs "Every Child Healthy" focuses on how we can encourage our students to lead healthy lives! We thought - Why not combine these 2 awesome efforts and see what impact we can make - together!

OMS Locker Clean Out - Past Program
Clean lined paper that was reclaimed. Teachers will stock their shelves for next year!
|
Every June, the Green Team heads up the Locker Clean Out at the Oliver Middle School. Volunteers get together and work with students as they clean out their lockers at the end of the year. Instead of tossing out school supplies the student no longer wants, the Green Team steps in with a quick lesson on reusing, reducing and recycling. The students are encouraged to bring all useable materials home to be reused next year. Items they are not going to take home we help them sort so they can be reused in the school or recycled if they are not able to be reused. Many stacks of paper, binders, folders and more have been saved from the trash bin!
